An aspect ratio is calculated by dividing the width and the height by their greatest common divisor, which is the largest number that divides into both of them evenly. For a 1920 × 1080 image, the greatest common divisor is 120. Dividing both numbers by 120 gives 16 and 9, so the aspect ratio is 16:9.

Why does LogoPilot show an approximate aspect ratio?

Many images do not have a clean aspect ratio. A 1000 × 667 image cannot be reduced to small whole numbers, so its exact ratio is 1000:667. Because that is difficult to work with, LogoPilot also shows the closest common ratio, which in this example is approximately 3:2. Use the exact values when you need to calculate a precise dimension. Use the approximate ratio when you need to describe the image's shape.

Can I change an image to a different aspect ratio?

Not without changing what the image contains. An image cannot be moved to a different ratio by resizing alone, because resizing keeps all of the content and would stretch it. You have two options: Crop: remove part of the image until it reaches the ratio you need, using the Crop Image tool. Add padding: keep the whole image and add space around it, using the Add Background & Padding tool. Cropping loses part of the image. Padding keeps all of it but makes the subject smaller within the frame.

Yes, when you enter the numbers yourself. An aspect ratio describes the relationship between a width and a height, so the calculation is the same for video frames as it is for images.
